FAQ
Q: What is Aakson?
A:
Aakson is an organization diversified into various fields like
manufacturing, services, education, consultancy and training and other
related areas.
Q: Are you a registered body for education?
A: Yes, we are. Aakson Educational Trust is a registered body under a Government of Karnataka Act.
Q: How long you are into education?
A:
We commenced our programme in 1998
as an Indian partner for the University of Western Sydney, (a
government funded internationally approved University from Australia)
conducting their Masters of Business Administration programme under
their stringent quality norms, standards and regular audit.
Q: Why did you start with management education?
A: We
believe in practical application of theoretical concepts. The key force
behind this, our Chairman having more than three decades experience in
running industry and his association with national level industrial
bodies inspired him to develop all-round managers who are ready to be
sought after immediately after their education.
Q: Who else are your other Advisors?
A: We have
a strong Governing Council with eminent personalities from industry and
academia from India and abroad. The constant guidance from their
experience enriches the programme every time with a novel approach.
Q: Are your UG and PG courses recognized?
A: Yes,
both our UG and PG courses are affiliated to Universities approved by
UGC, AIU, AICTE, and Ministry of HRD-Govt. of India.
Q: Who is the degree awarding authority?
A: The respective Universities award the degree directly to the student
Q: Why do you say that you are a globally recognized institute?
A: The
very fact that our students are employed already at many of the
internationally reputed organizations proves our global recognition.
Q: Why do you say that you create practical managers?
A: Today
industries are expecting a manager who is not the one who manages but
the one who inspires the whole work environment. For this a mere
theoretical knowledge is not sufficient. In our institute we emphasize
on application of learned facts/concepts and we do assess the students
on practical versus theory at 70:30.
Q: What type of curriculum do you adopt?
A: We do
have a curriculum researched and developed by a Curriculum Development
Committee comprising practicing industrialists, senior level managers
and expertised academicians who constantly improves upon the curriculum
to meet the industry needs. In other words, our students after
completion of the programme become “ready to eat” but not “ready to
cook.”
Q: What is the uniqueness of your programme?
A: As we
mentioned earlier, since we give due emphasize on practical education,
the students are put to practical work after completion of two
semesters of the course. The remaining period they continue their work
along with their education. Students are eligible for a paid internship
provided they are qualified by the employers. Hence this is an
“Earning while Learning” programme.
Q: What is your admission criterion?
A: A
graduate in any discipline and those with scores from the national
level recognized tests like CAT, MAT etc., are given preference. We
also conduct our own aptitude test.
Q: Do you have any percentage preference?
A: We do
prefer students who scored above 50% in the qualifying
examination. It doesn’t mean that whose score is below 50% is not
admitted. Such types of students have to take our qualifying
test. We don’t believe in depriving a candidate management education
provided he/she could be moulded into a good manager. We believe in EQ
not in IQ.
Q: How do you develop a student?
A: We have
a software based testing on the assessment of a student with respect to
his traits and capabilities which is intermittently administered on
the students so that the growth path is clearly drawn by the institute.
We give more input for the students who have a gap in his/her
abilities/skills. Thus the bridging of this gap makes the person very
confident and able to face any challenges in front of him/her.
Q: What is your expectation from a student?
A: We
don’t believe in linear growth. We expect the student to have an
exponential growth and be ready to face any competition from anywhere.
We expect the students to be sincere and dedicated towards the
programme and willingness to put in hard work.
Q: How far you are Technology savvy?
A: Students at the Post graduate level are
provided with laptops and the undergraduate students are utilizing the
Computer Lab with multi terminals with Wi-Fi connection. Students are
free to use the internet 24 X 7 in order to update their knowledge for
meeting the global challenges.
Q: What is your final advice for the students?
A: We advise them to make education not only an investment but also consumption
Q: How do you uplift your students morally, ethically and spiritually to develop him/her a stress free personality?
A: Every
day commences with a fifteen minutes Yoga and Meditation which free
their mind from all sorts of mental conflicts and they become
physically, emotionally and spiritually developed. Our philosophy
is “A sound mind in a sound body”.
